Insomnia is a sleeping disorder. Many people suffer from insomnia and on this site we will give you some information about insomnia, sleeplessness, and narcolepsy.
There are two main categories of insomnia.
Primary insomnia is a condition in which the sleeplessness or inability to sleep is not a symptom of something else. It is not brought on by other things, it exists as a condition itself.
Secondary insomnia is brought on by some other cause and is a symptom of the other thing.
Secondary insomnia can be overcome through treating the cause behind the secondary symptoms.
There can be an increasing effect of secondary insomnia. The sleepless nights add to tiredness during the day and this can lead to more stress and so the cycle continues.
Insomnia can be said to be chronic if it continues for more than 3 days per week for more than a month. Less then this would be called acute insomnia or short-term insomnia.
Secondary insomnia can often be cured by lifestyle changes, the important thing is to correctly isolate the underlying cause and then take action to change the situations which lead to it.
Primary insomnia might need a little more investigation than we can carryout ourselves and if it persists and becomes chronic, medical help might be needed.
There are a number of insomnia remedies available which range from a herbal insomnia remedy to medications, drugs, natural cures and meditations.
